Everyday Speech

It is important to not use slang speech when explaining to an ESL student.

• Slang expressions –part of our everyday language, but are not appropriate to use in formal writing. It is informal.
  • Not all readers will understand it
  • Used by limited social groups and changes rapidly (ie: crashed, canned, all-nighters, busted, ripped off)
